The Mangaster Beanie is the fourth in my series of beanie patterns inspired by the countryside, flora and fauna of Northmavine. The beautiful area in the North Mainland of Shetland which Mandy is blessed to call home.
'Mangaster Beanie was inspired by the colours and patterns seen in the rock faces we pass almost every day heading to and from our home. I’ve always found the contrast between the pink seam cutting through the grey rock fascinating. My husband laughs at me as I can often being found taking photos of odd things for pattern ideas whilst he is looking out to sea! These rock faces are on the road near Mangaster - one of our favourite places to view the sunset here.'
The beanie starts with a corrugated rib and is worked entirely in the round with a pattern based on traditional Fairisle motifs. It is has been designed to pull down low over your ears to protect them from the biting North winds! Otherwise it can be worn further back on your head as a slouchy style beanie.
