The Papil Beret uses the same motifs as the Papil Mitts; those were inspired by a tin containing caramel wafers that was given to me by two Dutch friends during Shetland Wool Week 2016. We met up during a workshop I was teaching at a venue in Papil, Burra Isle and they were also staying in a cottage nearby. Using Shetland knitting techniques together with the pattern inspired by the tin from the Netherlands this design celebrates the links we have with knitters all over the world and the amazing community of craftspeople we belong to. As someone once said to me we are all joined together with yarn and thread.

Pattern Notes:
The beret is knitted in the round, a rib and stocking stitch edging separated with a row of eyelets starts off the project and forms a picot edge on the brim when folded back.
The beret uses small quantities of yarn for the tulips so are a good way to use small pieces of fingering from your stash.

Yarn Used:
Jamiesons Shetland Spindrift, jumper weight (fingering); 25g balls, 105m /115yds
